Two million protective masks purchased by Finland from China have turned out to be unsuitable for use in hospitals, AFP reports.
Finland’s health minister, Aino-Kaisa Pekonen, had on Tuesday tweeted a picture of the first shipment of 2m surgical masks and 230,000 respirator masks being unloaded at Helsinki airport on a Finnair flight from Guangzhou in China, saying they would be “checked and tested” before use.
But by Wednesday, officials discovered the face masks did not meet the required standards of protection against coronavirus for use in medical environments.

I'm thinking of trying to book *something* like a two week holiday for early-/mid-September — thinking that, by then, restrictions will have relaxed a bit, and EU borders re-opened.
I'm just wondering if everyone will have the same idea I do, and prices will be absolutely nigh-on extortionate with hyper-demand.
- It could be a gamble, here in Portugal the numbers of infected are optimist, but with the easing of restrictions we could face a second wave of infections.dmay
- DE's new case numbers are up for the third day in a row, so I'm hoping that means all of us will be going into our second waves more or less simultaneously.Continuity

I walked into work the other day and witnessed a small gust of wind explode a thousand white blossoms from a tree, so I slowed down to appreciate a moment of unexpected transcendetal bliss, seeing these small white flowers flutter and stream around me as my body pushed a pressure front and they slipped round like fish round a boulder. Then the thought hit me about how perfect it was a representation of viruses in the air and the beauty of the moment kind of collapsed and so i carried on my merry, dismal way.

This is going to be another one of those situations where a bunch of honest, hard-working people get permanently fucked over by banks and bankers who are definitely breaking the law but won't ever spend a minute in court for it, not to mention the prison time they deserve.

Here's the official predictions for Canada according to the Government :
- We should reach the highest peak of cases at the end of Spring
- The first wave should be over by the end of the Summer
- It will be followed by smaller waves
- Return to normal life, not before 1 year ~ 1.5 year ... The vaccin will end it all
- As long as no vaccin available, we will have to live with the COVID-19
- We will return gradually to normal economic activities as soon as the first wave is over BUT for 1 ~ 1.5 year there's things we won't be able to do
- They dont know yet what they will do with schools...
- - - - -
That gives you an idea for your respective countries I guess.
That will leave a mark on the society for sure!
- Bennn, 1 to 1.5 year means the economy will be fucked by 99%NBQ00

I only have a link in french, from the biggest news media here.
Iceland is testing ALL their population without exception.. and guess what, HALF of them are asymptomatic!
This is scary... We should all be tested.
- Or we should just isolate and treat the symptoms and not risk spreading it more.monospaced
- The test does nothing to help. If you test negative you should go home and isolate. If you test positive you should go home and isolate. Period.monospaced
- Sure of course the test helps know how much it’s spread but it doesn’t really change the plan of action.monospaced
- It's already known 40-60% are asymptomaticgrafician
- so at this point, it's rather useless to commit to other measures until everybody gets tested and the sick quarantinedgrafician
- The numbers on the various charts & graphs we're all reading would increase quite a bit in terms of reported cases, not to mention the % of deaths would dropPonyBoy
- that is the case - higher the testing rate, lower the death rate, should be 0.2 - 0.4%grafician
- Of course. But it would also insure people without the virus would be close to people with it unnecessarily. IMHOmonospaced
- They should warn everyone to act like if you are positive. I've heard no one say it.Bennn
- They say that everywhere.monospaced
- not hereBennn
- I’m pretty sure they are. That’s what the lockdown is. That’s what the masks are for. Act like you have it.monospaced
- Wait ... Testing as present tense...how many of tested are effected based on population. Random sample testing or ppl who think they got it********
