this thing, the raygun gothic rocketship, also located out past the man, was easily one of the coolest things i've ever seen. a full-scale 50s-style rocket with three floors you can actually enter (one of which contained a menagerie of interactive "alien" specimens). it was rumoured to "lift off" on thursday, which was a staged "failed" liftoff with the single greatest pyrotechnics display i've ever seen, including the burning of the man itself. it set off a series of mushroom-cloud olored explosions which literally encompassed your entire field of view and i heard you could feel the heat of it half a mile away. i was up close and i certainly did. at the end a pair of flaming astronauts stumbled out of the ship, completing the illusion.
