    Because nobody's EVER, in the last ten years, flown in or out of Israel with a laptop, they had to assume it was a bomb. They have absolutely no business or economy that would demand mobile computing, therefore it's not hard to see how they could be so confused.

    Also, since Israel has never seen an actual bomb before--remember, they are now going for their 418th year of continuous peace--they had to assume that shooting it would defuse any potential attack. If Israel was used to terrorist activity--which they clearly are not--they would have approached this situation differently. Maybe someday they will have electricity, laptops and a substantial national defense.
