Peter Miller Bookshop in Seattle is fab! Also, the Museum of Glass in Tacoma. And there's this crazy big book shop with a cafe in the basement that is well worth a visit - just can't remember the name of it right now. It's near Pioneer Square I think... the art gallery is great too. And Cyclopse bar downstairs from the Ace Hotel is a fun hangout.
Vancouver... its pretty dead hear design wise. I can't think of anything worthwhile in art/design. Gastown is interesting, a visit to the Railway Club is great for live music, other than that I'm at a loss.
