i misunderstood this when i watched the first episode - put it in a slightly harmless, idle class - which made the initial horror of some of the scenes entirely discordant and excessive.
Having watched through to the end though, i realise i'd got it wrong - i still think it's excessive, but i guess i'm just more used to seeing this kind of thing set in the US or wherever. Less real that way.
