See, your point #7 is the biggest reason we can even just assume that the landings werereal. The Soviet Union had EVERY reason to discredit the American triumph... do you think they'd've let the opportunity to show up the Imperial Yankee Devil slip?
Points 1–6 are the result of the weirdly incompatible human mix of scientific arrogance and ignorance — we at once think we know everything, and then blithely ignore evidence that tells us otherwise.
The reason the Moon Landings are so hard to appreciate is ... because the level of achievement is so beyond most individual's capacity to understand it (how many thousands... tens of thousands.. HUNDREDS of thousands of people were involved in the space programme back then?)
