It would be wise not to simply trust the government or believe what the "experts" tell you. Trust what you have seen or witnessed yourself, anything else is a belief. Including science.
I believe that when someone gets elected he probably is shown the truth, that the whole thing was staged. Then files it away in a giant warehouse where no one can see because it's so embarrassing.
They will probably release the truth hundreds of years from now when no one cares anymore.
