Any Shopify experts here that can help me understand how the fuck to stop Shopify compressing uploaded jpg assets so much?

There's no visible settings, I can't see anything within the the themes construction to tweak (though I didn't build the theme so could be missing some obvious flag somewhere).

I tried following guidelines here, but it's making sod-all difference...

    • mind you, the guidelines here are borked anyway - try uploading a PNG and watch Shopify spazz out and make it a 3Gb file ...detritus

    • u can play with img_url asset_img_url, or asset_[whatever]. heres the proper link:

      sted
    • what sted said. img_url: '730x1096' Make your dimensions bigger. that's allhotroddy
    • I'm at home now, so will check sted's links tomorrow but it's the jpg compression that's causing me problems, not the actual filesizesdetritus
    • er.. 'not the actual dimensions' even.detritus
    • if you make the dimensions bigger the compression will be less noticeable.hotroddy
    • not on the image but in the script referencing the imagehotroddy
