Hey you guys, maybe one of you can help me out....
I think that I may have corrupt fonts on my system. Any time that I attempt to start photoshop, I get an illegal operation error as the program is sorting my font list. Any ideas?
Can anyone here tell me, is there a way in windows to detect and/or fix corrupt fonts?
Please help a brutha out...thanks.

I can only assume that it's something with my fonts, ya know?
the program won't finish starting up. It locks when it tries to sort my font lists. Freezes up my whole machine pretty good.
Bummer... anyone know anything?

have you checked the fonts at the font folder ? were they corrupted?- if not, thats a PS problem...

How does one go about checking the fonts to determine what ones are corrupt?

I remember having the same problem once -- turned out I had too many fonts loaded on ATM at once and had the memory usage in Photoshop up to high, so it just ran out of steam trying to read the fonts.

they shouldn't ever be corrupt, it's probably a failure on your in your software. Can you click on your fonts and see them?

i actually had this happen once. i couldn't understand it at all, because as far as i could think there should be no way that reading a font could do this.
anyway, it apparently had. i just went through and took out the fonts i'd installed since the last time i'd used photoshop and trial and errored re-adding them till i found the one that was causing the problem. interestingly the font was completely usable in other programs and didn't appear to be corrupt in any way.

Illustrator works fine. Does it not sort the fonts the same way that PS does?
F*ck me, I guess I'm gonna hafta reinstall the damn photoshop.
Arghhhh.

have you tried restarting? it could be something simple like that...

If you are running PS7 you could try re-naming the MMXCore.8BX and the MultiProcessor Support.8BX or moving them somewhere else.
just something I read about PS7 issues.
