Some assface is sending mass quantities of spam from a made up address. Problem is, it's giving me a bad name because the address uses my domain.
If you receive any mail from a certain , or for that matter, anything that is not from , disregard it completely...
Furthermore, anyone know of a way to find out what's going on with this? Please help me track this fuck down!

you gotta tell your ISP man - or your hosting company - see if they have an open-relay going on - or if the guy is jsut fabricating your domain name.

yes definitely alert your ISP, ASAP.. its happened to me before. got about 4,000 ANGRY emails from it..

I've already checked in my siteadmin and there are no other email users or aliases...but alerted host just to be sure.
I think whoever it is just fabricated the address, but I'm guessing that in this case there is nothing that can be done about it...

I'm bumping this topic in an effort to find out if any of you out there have had this happen to you...
I just found out that the bastard that is sending spam using my domain name is actually sending advertisements for an incest website. Appalling. Sick fuck!
What can I do?
I'm working with my host to track this company down, but I'm not sure of my rights after that.... in the meantime all I can do is put a disclaimer on my site for those that visiti it due to the spam...
Any thoughts? Similar experiences? Advice?
Thanks guys...

had the same problem with my personal e-mail.. I called my ISP and they didnt do SHIT it drove me crazy...They said that it was a virus on my system...
After running Norton Anti Virus like 10 times it got rid of it and all is fine...

It has nothing to do with a virus. It's some asshole soliciting his incest porno site using my domain name (selfinduced.com).
I am frustrated. There goes my reputation.
Looks like it's about time to buy a new domain name and lay selfinduced.com to waste...

unfortunately, there's no way for you to track them down, unless thy were really stupid.
Sadly enough, it is possible to send mail from any domain you wish, using old sendmail servers.
Anyone can send mail from with relative ease.
So, yeah, not really much you an do. Talk to your domain provider and see if they have any records, but it's quite had to track someone down.
All you can do is alert people that it's not you :)

zach,
is he using your email server for relay or just an erroneous email address. If it is the later then therte is nothing you can really do except ask people harrassed by this guy for his IPAddress in the header of the email. Then with that IP I would lookup his ISP on ARIN.net andcontact them to see if they can resolve the situation. If it is a relay problem with your mail server then just turn off relay. My companies server got blacklisted for two years because they had open relay going. It may be easier to use open relay but its totally not worth it in the long run. Email me off list if you have anymore questions.

Thanks guys for your input. There is no activity from this creep on my mail server, the spam is just being sent erroneously using my domain name. I'm working on getting the full header from one of the spamees. Just wish there was a way I could burn the fuck that's doing this :-(
