Ok well. I really had no idea time would fly this fast.
It was 1 year ago today that I was laid of from my job as Creative Director at Banc of America Securities in NYC.
Me, along with about 30 other people (including upper management) were ousted from our Aeron chairs and sent into the cold cruel world of unemployment.
Luckily I hit the ground running and decided to freelance as if there were no jobs out there and look for a job as if there was no freelance work.. burning the candle at both ends so-to-speak.
Here it is 1 year later, I never did sign up for unemployment and I've worked out of my home nearly every day.. 8-15 hours a day ever since. Managed to barter a little print ad space in XXL, Elemental, the Source, Vice and a few others hoping to bring in some new biz or at least a few new eyeballs on my work.
Being "unemployed" really can screw with you mentally but if you keep a positive outlook.. stay motivated and created.. even when there's no replies to the HUNDREDS of resumes you send out.. you can still make it.
Now.. with that said.. if ANYONE reading this has hiring authority.. please.. consider me for a fulltime position... I'll take the fetal position if it pays the bills. :)
Check out my work and tell me.. is the fulltime market just that terrible that I haven't landed fulltime work or am I missing something here. (besides the fact I don't have the free time to put together a trendy portfolio site.)

if it's any consolation, you inspire me.
I wish I'd lose my job. :)

Well, you couldn't get a job in Tampa, anyway.
Tampa has all the firms that are amazed by circa 1998 Flash Animations. And get this, the local Barnes and Noble doesn't carry Print, HOW or cmyk.
Only thing to do down here is go to the beach, and yell at inconsiderate white trash and SUV mommies. Hell On Earth.

well i ALMOST applied for a job at a veterans administration hospital outside st petersburg...
i just didn't want to make the move to florida from the NY/NJ area.
not yet at least. if i move anywhere it'll be arizona somewhere in the valley... far from crowds and where i can live well off freelance work...
but it's been a year and i'm not rushing out there yet either.
