Anybody else see numbers and certain words in colors? For me:
Monday = yellow
Tuesday = green (or blue)
Wednesday = yellow
Thursday = gray
Friday = dark brown1 = white
2 = green
3 = black
4 = yellow
5 = brown
6 = red
7 = yellow
8 = purple usually
9 = black
10 = blackI can remember asking schoolmates as a kid, things like, "what color is your Monday?" They would quickly move away from me.
*please don't hate me because I'm a freak. :^(

I studied synesthesia a bit in school. not sure I buy into. sorry.

I can't say I'm anywhere near close to synesthesia but
five = blue
I know that much.
I think it's really cool!

Yeah, it's a strange thing. Can't remember a time that I didn't see things that way.

Not really synesthesia, but I developed a complex social hierarchy whilst personifying the alphabet. S was a damsel in distress and R was trying to run off with her, while the mighty and bold T would protect S, if need be. A thought it was hot shit, while in fact B and C were the more humble and interesting letters, and D was an asshole that controlled E F and G. H and I were friends, but nobody liked L.

I did a project at art school on synesthesia. Was pretty interesting. Many notable artists are said to have been 'ailed' by this condition. Vincent Van Gogh being one of them. I personally wouldn't call it an 'ailment' at all, instead a unique gift.

This may interest you:
http://plus.maths.org/issue31/fe…It is about memory, and how synesthesia helps people remember long strings of numbers.

We spent a nice hunk of time on it in school as well. Very curious thing and I kind of agree about it's status of "ailment" and sometimes wish I could think more abstractly than I do, but at the same time I'm always wary of things (for lack of a better word) that tinker with perception.

happens on acid to me sometimes. concepts will take on "color personalities"... it's very subtle and not as intense or interesting as i imagine it would be. like it's just one of those things you notice and then move on
weird to think about it in retrospect though
- i'm still waiting for that crazy intense synesthesia experience i always imaginescarabin
- eh, my daily episodes with sound, numbers, light and days of the week is rather boring. :-(panacea
- just wondered if there was a thread on it and bingo, there waspanacea
- yeah, not knocking your experience, i'm sure it's very different than mine :)scarabin

I think I get this mainly because I'm too used to HTML colour codes and #000000 being associated with black:
1 = white
10 = black

I have a connection between sound and pattern. Usually happens when I'm falling asleep.
If someone is walking or closed a door...I see a pattern that corresponds to it. Kind of like an oscilloscope...

Johanna Bilak did a survey with this stuff and designed a series of T-Shirts based on the results of this very topic:
- yeah, see she's got it all wrong. That's not how I see it in my head. Saturday and Thurs is correctpanacea

@driftlab
We did an exhibit about Brains here and I read stuff about synesthesia. Although I dont have it but i think it's a fascinating subject.
Check this guy Daniel Tammet, he has the world record of memorizing 21,000+ π (pi) digits and he explained the reason of his memory, aside from being savant, is that he imagined the number as a landscape of color and shapes and each thing represented a number.
Amazing!- by the way, this is all on a subconscious level, and im sure it happens to you too.k_temp
