"Q... A lot of designers hate this project. What do you think about it?
A... Well since about half of our customers are web design studios and freelance designers, I doubt that it is true. I guess some of the so-called “designers” can’t compete and that’s why they are jealous. I think that we will never compete with such studios like 2advanced, Ceonex and others since we are on different markets. However, you are right - we just set up higher quality standards so they need to comply with our benchmark. Otherwise, if you can’t beat our standards – then join us and start using our templates as a source for clients’ projects."
Quote taken from the TemplateMonster interview over at Digital Abstracts.

souless-standard design lab
- nick0
agreed bonseff. pretty sure you could code a program that would output that stuff... completely takes the art out design :/
- BonSeff0
there's a market for em for sure. and if clients are bright enough to find them directly, then word.
but if 50% of their bottom line is web design studios and freelance designers...
that bumms me out more often than not
- nick0
yaes, bummerville for sure.
- slappy0
there all crap...
you get what you pay for i suppose...
- nick0
what really surprises me is that they're being recognized at all in the design community.

"The reason why TM was interviewed was because andre, the founder of digital abstracts, used to work for them and still designs templates."
ahk!

That's a pretty boring interview.
Surely there's a place for interviews to be actually critical, maybe even of a standard other than "what is your favourite site?".
Maybe though it wasn't the questions as much as the answers... sounded like the guy didn't really have any time for them and just put some quick answers together "yeah we're better than you - join us or die".
- geeque0
All of those interviews are pretty weak and short.
Seems like a rushed job yet digital abstracts gets linked in the NTB, DIK and nearly everywhere else. Kinda sad that people spend years trying to get their work linked in these places but never get in when shit like this does......

i'm just waitin for DutchBoy to jump in like high school hall monitors and say in a deepish voice
'i wish people would stop double posting, we already have this thread'

If I was to compile a list of questions for a new, better TemplateMonster interview, what would you want asked?
- Scottizzle0
Not only did they interview template monster, but if you read the interviews, you can see their grammar and interviewing skills are very lacking.
Template monster is NOT a player in the design industry. Churches and youth groups use that shit. Companies that need solid web advertising, would laugh at that. Trust me.
