What are good questions to ask at an interview for a Graphic Design position? Eeeek.
- rabattski0
if they are an agency: if they ever say no to a job and/or client (or if they have said no to a job and/or client in the past). and why.
- nessdog0
Yes they are an agency. Ta chuck.
- rabattski0
ah ok. good luck though!

ask how the position became available. did someone leave or are they expanding.
if someone left, why'd they leave?
- rabattski0
good question, but tricky. if you're too blunt with it then they for sure are not going to tell the truth if it has been a negative issue (as in, well we're a sucky agency and we treat our employees bad).
- rabattski0
better ask that one at someone who's working there (has worked there).

do you have to bring your own lunchbox with you?

ask about overtime and freelancing policies.

Ask them what they feel was their best work or a job that made them feel really proud to be part of whatever company it is they are part of.
It will make them think of a really positive time in the company which will hopefully reflect on their opinion of you miss neesdog.

do you get your own mug?
...seriously?
what are the companys objectives.
where does the company see itself in five years time?

do you get your own mug?
Your it.

ask the standard questions they ask you before they get a chance to
like:
where do you see this agency in five years?
what is this agencys biggest setback?
what is this agency best known for?
do you have any clients i might have heard of?
- vespa0
have they ever been involved in a situation of conflict with one of their clients, and how did they deal with it?
same question could be asked with employees instead of clients.
definitely ask about their strategy and 5 year plan. especially if it's a small agency.
and don't forget to ask something about a particular project you know they've done - that will show them you've done your research.
good luck nessdog! who's the lucky company? and turning the interview on them is one of the best ways to do well in the interview so go get em grrl

Do you see anything in me(porfolio) that already exists in your studio?
What would the people I would be sitting/working with like?
What sort of projects would I be working on?
Try get him/her to visualize you in the role, sat at desk etc.

- vespa0

cloned
(Mar 7 05, 03:41)if i was interviewing someone who asked that i'd think they hadn't done any research on the company and therefore didn't really want to work there.

it was just along the lines of the questions they ask you that always seem to make you feel minuscule
he asked for ideas he doesnt have to use them all
hell try this one out then if youre hanging off every letter i type
do i get to fuck your wife if i complete before the deadline?
or this
can i borrow your car?

i work freelance only
so in my eyes the agency needs me not "I need the agency"
i havent been an employee for 8 years

cloned i seem to have accidentally pushed one of your buttons. i'd apologise, but you clearly have issues, so let's see if i can push some more.
she asked for "good questions", not random pap that any monkey could generate, so i was trying to give tried and tested advice.
for the past 5 years i've freelanced and worked for companies ranging in size from 10 people to 25 000 people. out of every interview i've ever had since the start of my career, i've been offered every job except 1, and from the 1 job i didn't get, they referred me on to the interview for my current job, with i got (out of 200+ applicants).
my point is not that i'm the most brilliant designer in the universe, but that i definitely have a good interview technique, and if i can pass on any tips to nessdog, whom i like, then i will.
