three fucking times now i have been blatantly ripped off. i dont know if its because people think complex is more under the radar than their more comercial/larger magazines and will get away with it, but it doesn't go unnoticed. so infuriating. ugggh
pardon the rant, its just been far too often lately

I remember last summer..I had just dropped "The New Pop Culture."
Next Month clear magazine comes out with "The New Clear Culture."
Then I find out Staf magazine has been using it for 2 years...ugh.
I'm always a victim of having similiar ideas..

this is a case where 2 seperate mags ripped the same idea and took their own crappy spin on it. and admittedly the first one i did myself wasn't the best thing i have done. hahah.

Sorry to hear about that Justin..but you've been in the magazine game..it's been the same story forever. It's not who makes it to the stand first...it's how many people see it that make it original.

yeah. its just still mind boggling to me how inbred publishing is. i dont look to other magazines at all for graphic reference. but i guess i can't impose my standards on other people. just a bad look for them.

On a side note...I think it's incredibly interesting that web design started off trying to look like magazine/newspaper layouts..and now web trends get translated faster to mags than even motion design.

flattering i suppose but infuriating. to me its more the latter and the idea that someone else, regardless of how "influential" it makes me feel, is making money off my ideas.
