Hello world,
i have a thing to ask, do you know a way to connect 4 lacie hdd together without the use of a computer, i would like to used them as network drive
I have 2 usb (500gb) + 2 old firewire (80gb),
i'm sick of having to plug and unplug them all,
if you have any idea or a setup that works fine for you, help a brother out
thanx

why can't you just daisy-chain them all and plug into one computer and leave it? LaCie allows up to like 12 i think in this config

i can't be too sure about this, as i am no technical computer expert. but i would think you have a few options.

or a firewire/usb hub

if you go with the hub route make sure it's powered.
that is all i know.
hopefully someone else with some i.t. knowledge could shed some light.

I would go with a good hub.

I have seen these thingies around before, look great BUT they only allow 2 USB drives per unit. But if you could daisy chain them you might be in business. Isn't having that many external drives kinda confusing? Also, dlink makes basically the same product.

Why are dlink products always so ugly?

in you just don't want the drives in YOUR computer, you could pop them into a different old machine and just share them, or else install freenas on the machine and combine them all for an AFP network drive.
