Afternoon!
does anyone know the easiest way to embed an swf into a html page that is on a different server ti the swf?
I always thought that setting an absolute path was good enough but that don't work n'more!
The swf in question reads from a mysql db on one server and I need to embed it into a doc on a different server - how do I do that?
...please?!

so the swf reads data from a diff domain? or is just loaded from a different domain?
If your loading data you need to add a crossdomain policy file (xml) to allow for that to happen.

I made a SWF that sits on my client's server, it is designed to be deployed on many sites too....
for the other sites the object and embed tags simply point at my client's server.
You can see it at http://www.scottishapartment.com…
If you go to the "sign up" part of the page you can grab the html that embeds it too...

(Nov 15 07, 07:33)NOT if the SWF "lives" on the same domain as it is loading data from ;)

Yes emecks you are correct. But I assumed he was loading data from a diff domain.
emecks, you should change your flash embed method to avoid the click to activate issue in IE.
swfobject is a good method or AC_FL_RunContent from adobe

thanks for the replies - appreciate it.
The swf and the data that it calls in live on server a - but the html page that I need to embed it into lives on server b - I added the crossdomain.xml doofer to server b - but it didn't do much/anything - I'll take a look at the url Emecks and will nick that code of you don't mind ;-)

are you using absolute paths to server A to get the data?
Relative paths will be trying to pull from B

in the html I am using absolute paths but the swf file uses relative paths - I'll try changing that now - cheers joyride ;-)
