"This is not a brothel. There are no prostitutes at this address". ??? Am I the only one not getting this?

it was something that was placed outside a house in soho, london and peter saville (i think) did a sticker version of it for creative review few months ago.
- soho used to be known as a pretty run down area with prostitutes and strip joints... now it's not that bad at all but still has strip clubs.menos
- well at least it's a reference.Witt
- at all but still has strip clubs and what not... it's a trendy spot nowadays.menos

They wanted something london based - Here's a bit of background if you're not getting it (and can be arsed reading it)
The original sign by this doorway can be found at Number 7 Meard Street in London’s Soho – It used to be a brothel. Brothels all over Soho have now become residential apartments and one theory is that Number 7 Meard St got tired of the constant buzzing and put up the sign to discourage the salubrious late night visitors. Another theory is that the clip girls who worked in the area used to use the house to con unsuspecting drunks into thinking that there was a brothel at this address. Once the girls had lied to the punter and relieved them of their ‘deposit’ they told them to ring the buzzer and they would be led inside to a world of carnal delights – All utter lies of course. There's loads of these plaques all over soho - I find them quite funny.
- ty. nice and curious info. btw i like the raw shape of the lines composing the illu.Witt
