Interesting article on the world's most in-demand retoucher, Pascal Dangin of Box Studios.

sorry but that such a shitty article :(
“I call Pascal. ‘Make her legs long!’ ”
“He has this ability to make moves in someone’s facial structure or body. I’ll look at someone, and I’ll think, Can we redefine the cheek? Can we, you know, change a little bit the outline of the face to bring definition? He, on the other hand, will say, ‘No, no, no, it’s her neck.’ He will see it in a way that the majority of people don’t see it.”

Hey, the good ol' New Yorker! Why adequately cover a story on one page when you could spread it over 7?
Always fun though - and they wield their verbosity much more enjoyably than bloody Wired does - those bastards really do know how to waste letters.

maybe some before-after pictures would have made it more interesting.

Seems this article has spilled the beans on Dove's "Campaign for Real Beauty". Those 'real' people weren't so real.
"“Do you know how much retouching was on that?” asked Dangin. “But it was great to do, a challenge, to keep everyone’s skin and faces showing the mileage but not looking unattractive.”
The entire “Real Beauty” campaign is based on the idea that woman should feel positive about their natural bodies and not be overly influenced by mass media and advertising which sometimes use technical tricks like photo retouching to create unattainable portrayals of beauty. The creative positioning promoted a wider and more realistic definition of female beauty, and was developed after a 2004 global study conducted by Dove found that only 2% of women consider themselves beautiful."
