designers pretty up stuff and artists do it from scratch.
Does this help?
In the end its ladies choice- you're obviously an art director or an artist. artists do more drawing and rendering of pictures and designers do that and the strategy and the design.graphicart21
- nah thats bollocks, they're different thingsmodern

imo, 'artists' make shit designers and vice versa. I'm generalising horrifically, obviously, but the substance remains true.

visual designer isn't that bad doh. but i am sure your HR dept person don't have any salary range on that title. as its just an other name for graphic designer.
art director are suppose to be a, or two level up from graphic designer...even do many students use the work directly after grad.
the salary range are of-course higher there.

a lot of guys recently have been posting up their folios onto QBN asking for crits, and a their work seems to be more illustration based graphic design rather than typography/logo/web design.
i think id describe these guys as graphic artists
whereas people like myself who do typography/web/logo etc is more graphic design

regarding to the everyday joe/jane view, anything "attached to artist," gets paid less. choose designer, you'll make more money.

around 2000 it was funny when everyone was calling themselves daft names for website designers.
remember the guys from Kerb had job names like "web monkey" on their business cards hehe.
