OK, get up off your knees. It's unnecessary.

You have a couple of nice pieces but, for once, I think the site is too simple. I get what you were going for but I'm not sure it shows off your work in the best light.

    • It's far more complex than your site:Dukit1/5
ha ha, you've got me on that!Jnr_Madison2/5
My site is still much more complex than yours tho :)Jnr_Madison3/5

simple = better. although he could probably space things out more.Jaline5/5

Jnr_Madison: I had this elaborate concept for the website, running on flash. Spent a month reading Moock's Actionscript 3 book, half-way through I realized I need a job quick. Hence a quick HTML website.

5timuli: Thanks! I like data, as you could probably tell.

    • Yeah, cool, I wouldn't add too much, just something to give it slightly more character.Jnr_Madison

Good advice. When your site is simple. it's that much more important to be meticulous with the typography and spacing.

Btw, it is very quiet on here at the weekends, so I'd bump this thread on Monday for some more feedback. Good luck.

The fact that your bio runs 10 lines and you only have nine projects for some reason really bothers me and would make me not want to hire you. Then again, I did the same thing when I was just out of school, too...

    It's just a perception thing...

    • Yeah, it was something I wrote very quickly. I'll finesse it soon.botbot

    yep, i couldn't agree more.

with regards to your work, the only advice I can give is to keep working on your own portfolio as much as possible.. that's what i did once i finished college to continue to build my portfolio and develop my skills. Then hopefully by the time job applications / intervews come round you have the best body of work possible.

I like the simplicity of the site, as jnr madison said it just needs some tweaking + development.

Also your site doesnt have a back button or menu really?

    • sorry i've just noticed you navigation at the base of the site... perhaps rethink positioning? not trying to be negative !jimzyk1/3
      negative! just some constructive criticism!jimzyk2/3
Oh no, I understand. Thank you for the comments.botbot3/3

Hey BotBot I enjoyed your work. Based on the style and substance of your portfolio, I feel that you would fit right in and be at home at Pentagram.

Did your professor say anything about naming a project "September 11 Commemorative Spread"?
How about this "9/11 - We remember"
That was the first thing that got my attention because it didn't sound well, so I am sure that could happen when others are looking at the site.

    • Professor didn't say anything. The project was a week late, as were most of my projects.botbot1/4
don't say this to potential employers...tank022/4
haha- my projects are alwasy late too!! (of course always the clients fault!) I would more the sustainability project to the top, it is your strongest. Really good.SoulFly3/4
the sustainability project is really good, and really relevant today.SoulFly4/4

I am a big fan of letting the work speak for itself, I took that approach with my site.

I think yours may be too simple as Jnr_Madison said. I have a big monitor ( that's right ;-), and it bothers me that your work is all squished to the left.

    • Yeah, ive got a small laptop im designing this site on...botbot

You could keep your site this simple but tighten up your leading and at least try to look like a designer, you could drive a truck through that line spacing!

    • I'm a fan of big leading, but I guess I went overboard on this one.botbot
