    don't believe so.
    that would defeat the purpose.

different from flash plugin version to flash plugin version though, of course.

    • +1 - this is an important point as a clients lack of updating can make launch time painfulairey

The browsers themselves will impact contrast and brightness, just like any other content (used to at least), but not the flash itself. Run something side by side...

    • +1 pc gamma is always darker.airey

well, it's technically possible. everything uses NPAPI plugins, except IE, which uses an Active X control, so there could be differences between those two. I haven't noticed any differences though.

Wouldn't those differences be relegated to communication and functionality rather then the actual render? Active X is primarily used to allow the plugin to run, from there on it should be identical, or am I way off?

yeah, i don't really know what i'm talking about, just thought i'd throw that out there, ha. i know that with plugins, the rendering of the area they occupy is handled entirely within the plugin, which is why it can be kinda wonky when there is stuff that renders on top of them, like drop-down menus, etc.. not sure if it's the same way with Active X, or if there is some intermediary that's actually putting the graphics on screen.

it still animates somewhat faster on windows than mac.
if you use system fonts, that can be different.
embedded fonts can look a little different, in my opinion, though I am not sure why... maybe cleartype vs quartz or something.

of course you asked different browser and I am answering based on mac/pc...

    • Embedded fonts should be identical, as the outlines themselves are included...NONEIS1/3
you are right but "should" is an important word here... also, it is possible i am mistaken. text looks a little heavier on mac.cramdesign2/3
i have not heard anyone else mention this though...cramdesign3/3

speed is still an issue a 5 year old pc or a mac running windows runs stuff a lot more quickly than on leopard etc...

Also the colour is an issue but that is not just a browser thing obviously... I've even had to detect browser when trying to match a paper stock for a website... as the dark grey was too light on a mac... http://www.foundassociates.com/
