Hi guys,
Sorry for posting a bit of a 'code-y' question on here, but I've run out of places to look!
I've had to make a HTML email for a client and as per usual I'm having difficulties making it look nice across the main email clients. One in particular bug that has me pulling my hair out is to do with Hotmail...
Basically I've set the <p> tags for the entire copy, and it seems to display correctly in all mail clients except Hotmail. It seems to be adding a massive amount of margin/padding/space underneath, and I can't seem to work out why!
Has anyone else come across this problem before? I've Googled as many different variations of my problem as I can think of, and all I can surmise is that there is no fix, no solution, that Hotmail's rubbish, and that most people give up and accept a crappy looking email... grrr. I'd rather not give up - I'd just like my emailers to look how I designed them...
If anyone can help me, it'd be greatly appreciated! :-) thanks!

A good tip when designing with CSS is to reset all the styles before doing anything. IE, Firefox, Opera, Safari have all some differences in how their default CSS-values are set. And because tags inherit styles from the default specs in a browser, a webpage that has no custom CSS-styles for the i.e. <p> tag still may look a little bit different.
I'm no expert on HTML-mails, and since Hotmail is Microsoft-product it very well just be shit and broken. But, it may be the same thing that happens with your HTML-mail in Hotmail. Hotmail's default CSS specs may effect your tags and make them look different. So; reset all styles before you assign custom ones.
Have a look here:

I would change <p> to <span>
then doing your margins as you see fit. then setting all your styles inline,margin:0;padding:0; line-height:10px;- I'll give that a bash - I think Hotmail ignores margins though... grrrNot_Just_Another
