After all my boozing lately I need to tone up again... still feeling a little lazy though and wondered if anyone has ever tried one of these and if it actually works?

if you have a fat stomach then all the sit ups in the world won't make your abs show. You need to get running every day.
everyone has a sixpack, it's just the muscles that keep you upright, some people just have a bigger layer of fat covering them up

I find as I've got older, tailoring helps.
Either run like a biatch and work it off or, switch from beer to wine/cocktails, eat better, walk a bit more, and buy clothng that fits you properly.

Slow carb diet. You're only allowed to have carbs after a workout of at least 20 minutes. Actually, you need some within an hour after the workout, or you'll be burning muscles.

I'm about to get a gym membership, I've been putting it off for three years and I really want to do it this year. I worked out a few times while on a cruise in October, and a few times with my fiance at her gym, and had a good time. I like cardio stuff like the elliptical machine where I can watch tv at the same time, read, listen to music... if only I could sketch or use my laptop at the same time, that would be perfect.
I think after I get in better shape, the spinning classes could be good fun. I used to be majorly into cycling in high school and junior high and miss that competitive drive of pushing myself. Just read a review of what spinning classes actually are and they look like quite a workout.
