I am about to join a running club (need to get fitter) and wondered if you guys have any recommendation of some new gear which I should get?
Thought a new pair of shoes would be good + maybe one of those NikePlus things...
Suggestions greatly appreciated :)

Here's some ideas.
- Shoes. Most important piece of gear! Read this article to help you out. http://www.therunningadvisor.com…
- Nike+ is an awesome motivational tool. I've used it since the beginning, and because of it I ran almost 2500 miles in over two and half years. Planning to reach 3000 this year.
- If you haven't run in a while, be careful and don't try to do too much too fast, you can get hurt that way.
- Have a weekly plan, and follow it.
- Gradually increase your mileage.- well, hello there.
How's the knee? better?
:o) C8 is just around the cornerVectorMasked - Great advice, thanks Mattfodcj
- well, hello there.

nike+ shit.
We organize right there in QBN a month-long running challenge every couple of months. You gotta have the nike+ equipment to enter and compete.
The 8th challenge is just around the corner.
Thread to the QBN+ Challenge 7 -> http://www.qbn.com/topics/576401…- Cool... think I may loose but would be fun :Dfodcj
- It's just for fun! We are all mostly fatties trying to get in shape. It's great motivation!! Join us if you can.VectorMasked

Uhm, yes, second the shoes. As unfancy as possible.
Also, a heartrate monitor.
Why? If you're jogging too hard your body will eat the more delishous and readily available muscles, not fat, as energy to propel you forward.Or something to that effect.
Keep it at a heartrate fit for you (those things should come with instructions on how to find your optimal rate) and you'll get better results out of your running.

Does the Nike+ gear work with an iPhone or just the Nano as I don't have one of them?
- Only the nano and the iPod Touch. However you can get the Sport band. http://cache.gizmodo…mattiaBK
- That is shit... why the fuck do they make it work with the Touch and not the iPhone?fodcj

Hey VectorM,
Yes, after 5 months of no running I can finally log miles again!! I had tendinitis on my knee first, and then to my Achilles tendon. Now it seems that I finally fixed them. Yeah!!
I'll be running the New York City Marathon this year! I already registered! :DLet's go running, shall we?
- Great news. Honestly. Hope you can join us in C8. Good luck in the NYC marathon!VectorMasked

Ok, done a little searching and these two apps for the iPhone look good (and are free):

http://fitnio.com/index.htmDoes anyone else use either of these?
- Just bought the RunKeeper Pro for £5.99. Looks good and has great reviews.fodcj

if you dont want to splurge for a heart rate monitor or one of those fancy nike shoe things - you can function fairly well with your standard wrist stop watch
i just got a really good one from REI for $40 and it is all i need

Shoes are vital. iPod is a pretty great luxury. Companion canine is optional, but nice.
