I thought it was well made and everything.. funny at times but..
(spoiler)
what annoyed me was how a mining ship could just pull up in front of earth and lower a fragile "drill" without getting nuked out of orbit??
I mean what the hell even if they lost all their battle ships to it they could at least destroy that thing hanging from it..even at Vulcan they of all should have been able to defend their planet from a mining ship.. that was somewhat weak.. oh and the romulans should have just told everyone what was about to happen in the future now that they managed to time travel instead of starting a fight..
I really really wanted to like this movie more..
- You expect logic and science from Star Trek?TheBIueOne
- Where do you think both of these things could be found in the same place before Star Trek?CyBrain

^ It all seemed to happen pretty quickly. What I wondered was where was the space junk like satellites and AOL CDs?

Hahaha! The inclusion of the Beastie Boys "Sabotage" track in the movie was an insider jibe at Shatner, who during the original series never could say the word "sabotage" correctly:

^During the outtake he CAN say it, he just won't. He say's "I don't say 'sabotage,' you do. I say 'sabataage.'"
Do we know why? Any linguistic experts know if that's an old speech rule that people don't remember anymore and Kirk is actually correct?- So he's being a douche? Shatner is the man.TheBlueOne
- maybe it's how it's pronounced in esperanto ?7point34
- Maybe he's just a run of the mill asshole.CyBrain
- It's not 'cause he's Canadian. We know all aboot pronouncing sabataage properly, eh.ETM

i thought it was a pretty entertaining film... jj abrahms loves lens flare.. wonder how long it took to render all that flare..
- yeah the lens flare was acceptable in space but at the academy, c'mon!fooler2
- I think lens flares are making a comeback now.ETM
- I think they cameback and peaked in the same movie there...TheBIueOne

In Star Trek VI there was a whole scene where Kim Catrall explained the French derivation of the word sabotage.

Star Trek: The Original Series / Spock's Brain
[full episode 50:42]- the writer of this one admits he intentionally wrote a piece of shit in revenge against "certain actors" who critiqued the writing too much.CyBrain

I'm not a trek fan, but I trully enjoy this movie.
if you like sci-fi as much as I do, you can see no wrong in it,
except for the weak "evil" nero,- download the comic and you'll get more of nero's backstory.TheBlueOne

Just saw it yesterday. The movie was all kinds of awesome. If you like sci fi, but dont like movie you might want to stop watching movies. Sci fi films really dont get much better than this.
