I have d-link dwl-g520+ Xtreme g+ 2.4ghz wireless pci adapter but when I click on the wireless conection I get this message:
"Windows is unable to connect to the selected network. The network may no longer be in range. Please refresh the list of available networks, and try to connect again."
Can anyone help with this?

move router in range.

well, unplug and try again.
you obviously need to know the name you gave your wireless first off. then you need to make sure that it is actually connected to the internet. done and done.
if all else fails, unplug your router, wait a minute, and then make sure it reconnects.

Also - sometimes the battery out and putting it back in helps (if it's a laptop).

The router is working properly. Cos I connected to my iPhone and when I connect the router to the desktop winxp it works.
Just when I disconnect the router.
I can see the wireless network and is locked but when I click on it it doesnt ask me for the password it just comes with the message I stated above.

are you using WPA? WPA2? is this XP?
to narrow down the possible issues, try disabling wireless security on the router and then see if you can connect.

Sounds like yet another PC problem...

- On my network here, with around 20 machines attached, it's only ever the Macs that spack out. Strange that.detritus
- and, given that most mac users are fuds, even doing a basic restart is beyond their meagre liberal pinko facultiesdetritus
- I take that back - a Vista machine spacked out once about 4 months ago.detritus

was it working before? or have you add anything? etc.

isn't that what it says when you got the password wrong?

Well the ehternet cabla is from the router to the desktop win xp is not connected anymore.
The wireless card is pluged in.
And I disabled the security and it works now.
So what do you think it was that didnt make it work with the security enable?
What can I do now?
I am going to enable security now. So I will check this later.
Thanks

I use Network magic from Cysco take care of my entire network so I don't have to tweak manually. http://www.purenetworks.com/prod… (download the demo)
you could always enter into your router setup entering 198.162.0.1 or whatever is your IP and run a diagnosis through the control pane.
good luck

well you didn't answer the question of what form of encryption your router is using: WPA, WPA2, etc.
WPA2 is the most secure and probably what you should be using, but the card you have predates WPA2, so unless you have the latest drivers, that may be your issue.

The one I set up was WPA-PSK
