Earth size mystery impact and a total solar eclipse today. Some predicting this is the dawning of the age of Aquarius... geez what next?!
- Jnr_Madison0
I'm an Aquarius, does this mean good times for me?

"Seeing an Earth-sized spot appear so tiny on Jupiter's surface led to some to wonder Tuesday whether our planet might be in danger of a similar collision"
Hahaha

just saw this tweet:
"PearlFace. please God don't let this rumored Jupiter sized comet hit earth yet I'm not ready to die I haven't even lived yet!!"

"Leigh Fletcher, an astronomer at the Jet Propulsion Lab told the magazine the impact scar “is about the size of the Earth.”
Oh. Well if it's only the size of the Eart...WAHT THE FUCK....
- BattleAxe0
though the object itself was probably only 50 to 100 miles across!
WTWTWTF- You know, Newtonian physics. Not much mass, but a hella amount of speed will do that.TheBlueOne
- oh yea Newtonian physics , that's rightBattleAxe

Walter Wagner, who runs a botanical garden on Hawaii's Big Island, and Luis Sancho, a Spaniard, have asked for an injunction...

there's like 10,000,000 other ''Earth'' in the Universe with intelligent species on it. If we disappear, its no big deal.
- benfal990
Don't worry.

"The solar system would have been a very dangerous place if we did not have Jupiter," he told New Scientist. "We should thank our Giant Planet for suffering for us. Its strong gravitational field is acting like a shield protecting us from comets coming from the outer part of the solar system."
- i'll pass around thank-you card if anyone wants to sign and we can send it off to jupiteracescence
- i always theorized that life was so complex we need a universe to make it so ...BattleAxe

one thing that always concerns me about colonizing space is that if we end up on large planets like Jupiter, imagine how much airfares would cost. I don't think easyjet is going to be of much use over such vast distances.
- max_prophet0
imagine how many mobile phone networks you'd have on a planet that size... choosing a price plan/network would be a total nightmare.
- you're in the wrong job.Jnr_Madison
- there's a job for me?max_prophet

and what about time, night and day and all those issues, we'd have to change our whole notion of what is night and day, imagine how many little icons and world clock devices would have to change. Just imagine it.
- max_prophet0
And don't get me started on the weather – do you know what the weather is like on Jupiter.
Who knows where you begin to shop for the kind of clothes you'd need.
- max_prophet0
I say we just stay put.
- Fuck you Max I've already had an especially massive wrist watch made for Jupiter's day & night phases.Spookytim
