So I am doing this project for this photographer for a promo and we just spoke with a local printer here and the thickest they were willing to go was a 130# on their offset, but I was curious if anyone had experience with pressing multiple pieces of paper stock together and then printing on that. Maybe something as thick as the recent Veer postercard:

Yes.
Where i've worked we've letterpressed chip/craft board comparably thick to that veer card. It just depends on your printer. Some like to experiment and press a variety of materials(like your heavy chip board up there) while others will only want to press what they know they can safely run through there machines.

What about like litho lamination of just normal white paper stock? Any good vendor recommendations for the US?

i've had garment hangtags printed offset full color on chipboard then laminated together for double thick.
screenprint is another option if your artwork is suitable.

Any other recommendations for places that can do litho lam and print in the US? KTD comm is unreachable :(

Tell them to pull their skirts up and try something new. Or, find a new printer. They should be able to run sheets up to 160lb. duplex cover or even heavier.

In related news, my print sales rep of choice here in STL just lost his job today (or he left without telling anyone, not sure which). This makes me a *touch* nervous because I've got two substantial projects in the works with him. Damn economy or whatever it is.
