Plasma is nice if you have a darker room for it. Otherwise LCD is probably better.

I'm a big fan of my 42" Panasonic plasma. The TH theater series can't be beat if you have a nice audio system to compliment it, but all the Panasonic plasmas are great.

I had a Plasma that lasted maybe 6 months LCD is running like a champ

The reality is, if you don't already know the pros/cons of each, then it probably doesn't matter. Just know that you can get a much bigger Plasma for the same money. And let's face it, we all want a huge 60" screen on the wall.
but for what it's worth, I own two 42" 1080p LCDs from Samsung and a 720p tube from Samsung (BEST visual quality by far, but maxes out at 32" and is no longer available.)

I believe the best image quality out there is Pioneer's Kuro series (Plasmas, and they cost a fortune). Panasonic's plasma, which I believe licenses the tech from Pioneer, is an incredible value (but just doesn't have the sexy look of the Pioneer's).
"The Panasonic Viera TH-P46G10A is the best plasma we've seen in the past 12 months, and is perhaps the best TV on the market."

Plasma will be a dead technology in a few years, the cheaper technology won and is rapidly becoming the better technology as the other stagnates."isn't plasma subject to burn in?"
Yep it's fucking atrocious, makes it nearly useless for watching TV or playing games on. a friend of mine bought a Pioneer one for £2-3K mostly for playing games on, but he had to stop playing games on it most of the time because after about 10 minutes there would be visible burn in and after an hour it would be really fucked. He always used to have to leave the thing with static on for about an hour after to get rid of it. Was such a joke he ended up buying a small LCD to do the gaming on haha.
Beautiful screen but that limitation ruined it
