Just launched the streamlined version of my site today.

Heh, I thought you were referring to shooting things with a gun.

yea, links on homepage not working... and stars for nav not working?

Clicking View Portfolio shouldn't be the "only" way to view work.
Try putting Next and Previous side by side.
I like the simplicity. I was able to browse your work fast.

some nice photo there ;)

yes, the programming is a bit hackish, thank my husband for that. I am the photographer, he is the very sad designer trying to be a programmer :( Thanks for your reactions, these are things we can fix :)

very nice shots all around. i think the site's design cheapens them a bit. i'd rather just see your shots with less decor around it with a simple nav

Nice work, however you should make the images clickable (sends you to next piece in line up); also the it doesn't work to click on the stars for nav....hmmmm.

Surprised no one has commented on not being able to click on the stars for navigation.

Nice work, clean simple lines, fast, would be nice if the stars worked (kept clicking the things)... otherwise - why the double barrel derringer? Just curious...

It's not that the site design is ugly - it's just that, for photo sites, it's best to have nothing compete with the images :) Nice work.

Nice work! I think you should make the site much much simpler. Drop the gray bg, and the pink lines. Maybe bigger pics. And yeah, make the stars clickable.
- cassie0
Okay, I guess I have heard it 50 times now, but I guess my question is "why?", when it comes to making the stars clickable. It is being used as a device to show your position on the timeline. It's not like you can see the image you are clicking on. If people were clicking on the stars, which is an awkward way to think about moving through the photos (having to move your mouse every time you click), then it would be easier to skip images I might want for them to see. I would just assume have no stars than make them part of the clickable navigation.
- boot the stars. i think most of us clicked on it because there was a hover on thembrandelec
- Yeah, we took the hover off. Don't know why it was doing that to begin with as they were graphics, not buttons. By breaking them apart, that was fixed. I didn't know if people are just agreeing with previous posters or they really, really want to click some stars...cassie
- Thanks for your opinion!cassie
- I think alot of people like to skip around, see the first, middle, last, not in order...vaxorcist
- You think a more literal page representation would work better, like thumbnails? they would be awfully small. Maybe page #'s. Thanks for the feedback!cassie

Haha, love the attitude.
"If people were clicking on the stars, which is an awkward way to think about moving through the photos..."
You got at least 10 people (designers) ^ that clicked on them, so I am guessing is not that awkward and perhaps, who knows, YOU might be the one that's wrong, instead of everyone else.
And after you are done deleting the stars, you can move onto 'accepting constructive criticism well' exercises...
- Agreed!Stian
- i think she's accepting the criticism pretty well, myselfbigtrickagain

if you really don't want to have the stars clickable, you should at least invert the colours on them so that active is pink and inactive is grey. Grey being a more appropriate colour for something that isn't clickable. On that note - why are some of your links grey at rest and pink on hover and some of them the other way around?

I guess you took my response differently than was intended.

I think the images are great. The designer should shoot himself in the face, tho!
- well, he's a sad designer...OSFA
- Sad to see the recession is affecting you deeply in OSFAland as well.themousewhisperer
