Get a lil more funky with the type. Looks a lil flat so far coz of it.
Add more colours or add a few tints of the blue or something.
The facebook and twitter icons look a lil ackward. Make them smaller.
Headers like "choose your gem" could have more impact.

In my opinion, your choice of font(s) don't match with the font used for the logo.
Since there is some round edges on the homepage, that would make sense to see some others on the other pages.

I think it looks pretty good for this kind of thing. Nice and simple, straight to the point. I do wonder though, on the homepage, is there something more eye catching you can put in the main area? Like, I dunno, a sexy girl or something?;) You know, capture the experience of using the product rather than just show a picture of it.

This is completely personal preference but i'm going to rant on anyways....
...so why the fuck do people want to preview static web comps in the one format which completely disregards the resolution your of your source files?
You should really just take the extra time create a basic html file with height/width defined <img>'s so that the user can at least get a basic sense of scale and usability.
And yes, i understand the other side of the story, which is your client either requested a PDF or that's just the way you do business. But fuck man, c'mon....
PDF = teh suck for reviewing web work.

And on the the critique:
Pretty blase. I guess it works for what it is. Although again, nothing exceptional jumps out at me or makes me hate it.
The masthead color also doesn't seem to gel real well with the way you've chosen to style your links and nav colors. That complement seems pretty contrasting... maybe something more tertiary or even monochromatic for color? Just a suggestion.

I will agree with every one of the comments above and say that it surprises me that you did this one. It doesn't seem up to par with what you usually put out.

the comps should be raster, so we get a sense for actual size. in this form, you, nor you client can get a sense for the upcoming user experience. it feels very at least 5 years ago, i see no need for the rigid box use. you are selling one thing. that said, too many pages. just from a copy standpoint, if you are going to offer the facebook/twitter thing, those people are used to regular updates, so the current info could be condensed and each of the pages more sales driven. faqs could always be to the right, you'd always have your how to graphic on the page etc. and the blog, is it really going to be news briefs for the site visitor or tweet like posts as these could again be in the side bar.

voiceof: there hasn't been a lot of budget for this and the content came in a bit late so it's been put together in perhaps a backward and overly slimmed down way. thank you for your input.
idiots: excellent advice.
looks like i'll be donating my time to the next round but it will be worth it in the end.

very flat! try some gradients, shading, drop shadows, rounded corners, bevels etc.

- the html/css work is easy.
trim to width, set bg color, click for nextidiots - I know how to but it's the weekend for crying out loud ;) didn't want this scroll issue either._salisae_
- also didn't want the images shown in the thread for a touch of privacy as far as the client is concerned._salisae_
- I'll re-link them in a minute ... please leave them as a folder of links._salisae_

choose a grid and go with it, i hope SPECTACULAR"S MEDIKASHIN came in because he was right. how many image widths are you using? i think most of your problem is hierarchy of importance of content. i don't really care about these two chicks, i just want my pants to fit again, do you guys have coupons offers specials? then tell me about it on /twitter/facebook, i don't want to come back to this site, i shouldn't need to, unless i need more cheap pants adjustment.

I think the blue header is holding things back. Visually, it's very prominent on the page, but it doesn't really offer anything. Try making it white to shift focus to the nav and homepage promo area.
On the promo area, the new type styling is an improvement, but this element should have the most visual weight on the page. a background colour would help here. Try the plum or a rich blue.
IMO The product should be primary and the box it comes in secondary. The plum background is a bit much. The pale blue would help place focus on the page

Everything seems really big to me, it looks really clunky and unrefined. There is just a lot of wasted space. Making all the margins even would be a good place to start cleaning things up.
The menu also ends really awkwardly, don't get it at all. I also think that the choice of having the roll-over color/weird extra menu space a slightly different color than the header looks like a mistake.
If I was making this, I'd make the magenta a little brighter, but thats probably because I like bright colors.

monNom,
first suggestion – really spot on. it feels so much lighter. i agree about the package being less interesting than the product but i think they want the retailer to know what it will look like for their shelves. also to let the customer know what to look for in the stores. looking into your color suggestions. thank you.

Salisae,
I think you can have both an image of a person using the product and the product itself on that banner. have the image of the person fill most of the banner area and have the illustration and text on top of the image. It would make it more believable and pro looking.
