Alex McLeod constructs hyperrealistic 3D environments filled with crystalline mountains, fiery lakes, and rotund clouds...

hyperrealistic?

i must be missing the point here. this guy does "abstract" 3D models and renders them. is this because he can't model realistic shapes?
it all remnds me of when i first played with Bryce3D. You chuck a bunch of random geometric shapes in, pick some colours, textures and lighting, then you render it. Takes, 20 mins to do, requires no effort, and looks identical to this.
So this guy is better than real other 3D artists who do movies, advertising etc, because?
I think this is another case of modern art being deemed good based purely on quantity of work, not quality. unimpressed.
my two cents.
- you don't happen to have examples do you?... no? what a surprise.calculator
- if you dont have anything nice to say...ross
- alxclub0
don't be jealous. I do music videos and advertising too, check out my website site 'Invalid' - there is a lot more than just geometric shapes ;D

lol @ invalid
surely the same could be said for illustrators who do "kiddy" type illustrations or the type of illustrations youve got on your own homepage.
http://www.superculture.com.au/
surely thats not actual "illustration"
- a kid could do the same drawings in less than 2 mins, requiring no effort and looks identical to this.

since when did post-it notes float?
- i mean, if you are going to go for an obvious cliché, you might at least try not to fuck it up.bumdrizzle

LOL i love how everyone immediately goes to my site. my site is balls. i know this. has not been updated in years. i don't even do web + print design. srsly wtf is that?
Alex. I'm sure you have other skills and are very talented. I just didn't see anything great about these 3D models apart from them looking cool. If anything they'd make a far better holding page than post-it notes. i keeed i keeed.
meanwhile. why does everyone assume that if you can't do something yourself, you have no right to critique others? chillax bitches! just because my site looks like a student holding page, it doesn't mean i can't rip on somebody elses.
what happened to being entitled to your opinion? lol i know this is a bullshit question on qbn. on the internets the collective opinion is your opinion.
anyway. just becasue i don't like it, it doesn't mean those of you who do, are idiots. it just means you have no fucking sense of what's good and what isn't. I'M JOOOOKING. relax. you are idiots.
no really, the only real idiots are those who genuinely expected to see something better on my site. i can just imagine the fanboys sitting there on their mac books, "who is this guy? why does he have an opinion? let's go to his site. is he web famous? is he a rockstar?" no jerk-off. i'm just the cunt who will tell you what i think.

the blog roll in the left hand column of the website seems to be the most important thing so I checked out a few of those instead...
