Someone is helping me do some work on a flash piece with some particle effects.
I am asking for some changes to the particle effects and he said it takes '12 hours to produce each effect'...
Huh? Anyone done particle effects in Flash? can that be true?

yeah... it can be tricky to screw w/all that math...
... some effects can take a while to work out... ... but 12 hours per effect seems a touch melodramatic...

you paying?

yeah! i mean...the effect runs in real time doesnt it? Its not like rendering a bunch of 3D animation....

Depends on the particle effects he's doing. Code based particle effects are just that, just code. I don't see how that could be 12 hours unless you're reinventing Newton's Law. But you 'can' spend a while doing it manually without code.
The particle effects I did in this banner took 6 hours to create and optimize. http://www.davi-t.com/folio/miniā¦
So something twice as involved 'could' take 12 hours.Post a link.

yeah true. im not a coder but usually do my own work by hand and work closely with someone I know does the code. This is very frustrating because now im actually talking to a guy across the country who is talking to the actual developer in India and hes giving me this 12 hour stuff when I am asking for variations....
- India????
12 hours of work should still be pretty cheap then!PonyBoy
