My one freelance client owns a hair salon. She had one of her employees set up a facebook page for their salon a while back. Recently she wanted me to add things to it. I noticed the page was a personal page, and not a proper business page. There was a business page setup with that same account, so I blew it out with everything my client wanted and more.
She came back to me and wondered why she has two facebook pages, and I explained about why a business page is what she should have. She seemed ok with it.
A few weeks went by, and I never got my check. I asked her if everything is ok, she said people are confused because there are 2 facebook pages for her business. (She would mostly update the old personal site and not the new business page).
Is there anyway to delete the personal site, and keep the business page intact? If this isn't possible, what could be some other solutions? I told her to delete everything off the old personal site, and have one status update that tells people to go to the correct site.

none of her clients will give a shit if it's a personal page or a business page. i know it's rage inducing, but just update her personal one to the same level as the business one. she'll probably lose most of her contacts if she deletes the personal one.

Frosty:
This is a bit tricky, I know you understand but your client may not, you need to let her know that:
a) You need a PERSONAL account to access your business account.
b) The Business account has different functionalities that the personal does not, including the ability to place CHEAP and POWERFUL advertising, Track user stats/ demographics, and a more professional way to interact with your users.I would sit down with her and show her the difference between them, so she understands it's not your fault, that those are facebook rules and will ultimately be for the best if she learns how to use them.

I explained that she could advertise using the business site and she gets it. She said she is happy with what I'm doing for her, but she is just confused on what to do.
I now have the site at about 80 friends, whereas the old one had about 200, but most of those weren't people, just other businesses, radio stations, club promoters, etc.
Dammit i just checked and she keeps updating the old personal page, and just friended 20 people.
The problem is I'm not going to get paid now because she won't use the other page.
- You're not going to get paid becuase of a facebook page? Let me guess... no contract, right?ETM

Also if facebook comes a personal account that's being used as a business account they will delete it.
- Personal accounts are for People.
- Pages are for Businesses. Also let her know that on a personal page she needs to approve and add people.
on Pages people can just follow her (with out approval) and recommend the page to others.
The list goes on and on but the bottom line is shes breaking facebook rules by having a personal account thats advertising a business. they will delete.
- Yea the page deletion is a biggie.Frosty_spl

you can't add fbml tabs to personal pages, correct? so she's using an account with no real custom tab pages, oh hell, she sounds like a pain in the ass client and the only thing worse than dealing with one yourself is talking to someone else about theirs - good luck you poor bastard!
- lol, i feel that way often. "i got my own problems haha"sofakingbanned
- The page is pretty simple, no FBML needed, just FML. hahaFrosty_spl

So can I just clear out everything in the personal page, with a status update telling people to "like" the new page?
- Frosty_spl0
She was super easy to work with when I built the site, and every time I make changes and updates.
Now some "computer expert guy who writes software" is trying to tell me to merge the two by combining the files, but he has never used facebook. And he is confusing her even more.

So first she has her personal page and from there she can create a business Page.
Have her add you as an admin.
Have her send a Pages Recommendation to all her Personal account friends with a note attached asking them to follow the new Business page you have just created.
its a pain and not everyone will follow along but hey you gotta fix it some how
- I did that when I first created the page. I can do it again.Frosty_spl

Just let her know that it may seem like a pain now but the Pages features are a big plus and will save her time and headache in the future.
- Apps (such as FBML and Auto status update to a twitter account)
- Events
- Notes
- UpdatesAlso mention that she can't actually sell or run contests off her Page unless she pays for it. FB will delete. Trust me they've done it to me lol
- Yea I told her its a pain but has to be done. She still doesn't get it.Frosty_spl
- Well she got it enough to okay it initially.ETM

So... do you have a contract with her?
- Frosty_spl0
I did for the website initially, I don't have one for this facebook page. Stupid I know, but it was only for $212, and I never had problems with her paying before.

how does her unwillingness to use your work translate to her not paying you for it?
