I listen to a lot of ambient electronic music, especially when Im working. Helps me concentrate. What ambient music do you guys listen to/recommend? Here's a few things I like, to help get things started.
Nosaj Thing
Hudson Mowahke
Modeselektor

Nosaj Thing and Modeselektor are great, but I don't really consider them ambient.
It's always worth listening to Brian Eno, who originally coined the phrase ambient. It's really supposed to be about music that completely blends in to the background. You can add in a lot of the bands from that era, like Tangerine Dream, Steve Roach, Vangelis...
- the blade runner ost is essential.prophet
- yeah, good point bout nosaj thing and modeselektor. May not be brian eno "ambient" but I think they can kind of relate. Maybe like distant cousins? loliwasink

- Music has the Right to ChildrenI do like Moby / Hotel ambient though. good stuff.
Eno of course, is essential - but stick to the classics from the late 70s. Don't get anything recent or even from the 90s - not that I've heard all off of it...but not Nerve Net: no and some other things...not so good. His collaboration with Cluster is very good.

Really there are just a ton of great albums in this genre...kind of a contrast with other styles of electronic that doesn't produce so many albums (vs EPs)
