Apparently RDJ was working on the soundtrack to Neuromancer when Chris Cunningham was trying to write it's script but then the project was abandoned.
Now Vincenzo Natali is in line to direct it and something tells me the soundtrack will be different.

I would place bets that Aphex Twin will be Mary Anne Hobbs secret guest on her last show. That or Burial...

Aphex has always been a little too ADHD for me, as I prefer dissolve-a-Xanax-in-your-glass-o... stuff like Demdike Stare or Porter Ricks to short-attention-span-core stuff like Clark or Plaid, HOWEVER (and this is a big fat however) I absolutely love that this guy exists and does Exactly What the Fuck He Wants musically and gives fuck-all about commericial success. He's an antimatter-Katy Perry, so to speak, who has made a career of selling out to whomever and whatever. If they shook hands the universe would explode. Or, hopefully only she would explode.
- ...glass of Oban is what that was meant to say. Too many hyphens, I gather.citysurgical

Was Cunningham's 'Chris Cunningham Live' ever released on disk?

I'd say about 40% of Aphex Twin's total discography is "meh", 40% being genuinely awesome, and the last 20% being absolute masterpieces. The guy has so many moments of brilliance.

I love reading about him and his way of thinking, he sounds like such an interesting character, in a way it helps to understand some of his music too, thanks for posting those ukit and whoever posted the interview

I think it's the sheer volume and diversity of his work that makes it so impressive...same thing with Tom Jenkinson or Mike Paradinas. I don't like every last tune he's put out but he's delved into so many different types of music that to my mind puts him far above your typical electronic musician that just works within a single scene or style.
Out of the newer guys, maybe someone like Mr. Oizo can be comparable...

mike paradinas is ace too... their album together was one of my highlights... so i asked him when you guys gonna release something together again he said not likely mikes got kids now... anyways the knob twiddlers one was ace...

Conveniently, both Rephlex Records and Planet Mu launched new websites recently where you can buy their entire catalog directly.

bump!
I met him at a gig a few years back, he was real nice - all smiles. He was sharing a joint with a bunch of us when my friend came back from the toilet all fucked up. Mate pointed right at him and said, ''you look dead like richard james, but no as ugly!”
He ended up talking to my destroyed mate, who was completely oblivious. When he left and I told him it was actually richard james, he was mortified, said he'd been bitching about how shitty the new aphex tunes were. When I asked his response, he said he was just laughing and agreeing. He’s ace.
