You people seen the next google phone? Called the Nexus S.
Been seen on various sites and documents and recently engadget got a copy -
http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/…
Very similar to the Samsung Galaxy S i9000 (named captivate, fascinate etc on different carriers). Which is pretty much the fastest smart phone out.
Hardware made by samsung, software by google, thats win win. Samsung are awful at software updates, google are very good with their flag ship handsets.
Said to have a better hardware spec than the already mega powerful Samsung galaxy S i9000 (which is is based on).
Think ill probably be getting one.
- this post was me, 3 weeks ago. Excited, optimistic and happy at the thought of the nexus S. FU google. ...fu.Hombre_Lobo_2
- I forgot what i was about to sayJoeBiden
- ernexbcn0
But does it run Angry Birds?
- Hombre_Lobo_20
lol ernexbcn. Indeed the most important feature!!!
it sure does :D
the Halloween edition is pretty cool, playing through it atm, bit tougher than the normal version.
- game devs are having a world of hell developing for Android, too much fragmentation / devices with diff capabilitiesernexbcn
- yeh i can see why. must be a doddle doing it for the iphone, sooo many people have it. and there only 2 typesHombre_Lobo_2
- it's no different to a PC .. you need to have a minimum spec, fragmentation argument is bullshit.lukus_W
- really lukus? good to know.
yeh I suppose the pc analogy is a good one.Hombre_Lobo_2 - it's not bullshit, it's a real issue hampering Androidernexbcn
- If it's an issue that hampers android .. it's also an issue that hampers PCs.lukus_W
- Fragmentation is just another word for 'choice'. Steve Jobs is highlighting the negative.lukus_W

that thing is huge. sure it's only a few quarter inches, but it's like carrying around a scientific calculator. Big, wide, extra buttons and it doesn't do anything more than the iPhone except play flash. And when it does play flash, it plays it all choppy and skippy. very disappointed in the UI. Felt like it was running mySpace as its interface.
- Doesn't do anything more than iPhone, other than provide _freedom_ and _choice_.lukus_W
- clearly you're talking about a different phone to the one above. and the flash may be choppy, bur at least it is possible and will only get smoother as the hard ware gets better.Hombre_Lobo_2
- ...be choppy, but at least it is possible and will only get smoother as the hard ware gets better.Hombre_Lobo_2
- just like lukus said, choice and freedom!! hugs for lukus!Hombre_Lobo_2

I bought the Nexus One in January when it first came out, it turned out to be a big mistake, the phone died in July when I was overseas. The power button was broken and I had to send it back when I returned from my trip. HTC's customer service is horrid and they charged me $198 for the refurbished phone they had sent me. They claim it was due to a faulty motherboard which for some reason is not cover under warranty. There were a few other people with the same issue I had and got the same "faulty mobo" bs. Google does not handle customer service at all, they seem to abandon their crappy product and throw everything to the equally bad HTC.
The phone isn't completely bad but the way both companies handled the case will stop me from buying any phones from them again. I expected this from HTC but not Google. Don't get me wrong, Android phones aren't horrible, but they are not at the level of practicality where Apple is yet. So I jumped the Iphone bandwagon 3 days ago and for now I'm glad I switched.
And thats my Android horror story.
- The thing is, your story is about HTC - and this phone is made by Samsung. They're two different companies.lukus_W
- ... sounds like a bad experience though.lukus_W
- I know, I'd just thought I tell my experience with my Android phone and Google. I have used Samsung phones in the past and they are ok. Not pretty looking but very durable and practical.spookykat
- that does suck dude. but again as lukus said, that's like blaming windows for a faulty hard drive. android and htc are different.Hombre_Lobo_2

Any Motorola Droid X owners? I been waiting for the iphone to hit verizon, but wanted to see some other options out there. The Motorola Droid X looks pretty cool.
- Hombre_Lobo_20
pinkfloyd
that droid X looks awesome. but it is very very big. powerful though, pretty good GPU as well, nit quite as powerful as the samsung galaxy S GPU but still solid.
love the look of it.
it takes good stills, but the video isn't too good.
that's one thing the iPhone dies very well, excellent camera.
- Hombre_Lobo_20
@jetskii
yeh it is quite big, but slim. people seem to be buying big phones anyway. droid X, he new desire HD. good viewing experinecs.

The google Nexus S -
http://www.google.co.uk/nexus/#
What a huge disappointment! Just a samsung galaxy s, with the google name slapped on it.
The new android 2.3 gingerbread looks great though.
- tOki0
I've got a galaxy S, loving it but hating how my provider still hasn't given me froyo T___T
- Have you tried xda-developers forum for a froyo update? they normally get hacked versions out before carriersHombre_Lobo_2
- I have looked at that stuff, but have also read about people phones breaking, getting locked out of networks etc...!tOki
- Hombre_Lobo_20
^you got a samsung S? that thing looks awesome!
Do you like it? I nearly got one a month ago, but then thought i might wait for all the new tegra 2 ones (and the nexus S regrettably).
The only bad thing i hear (other than samsung updates being shit) is the battery. Hows yours?
- I find the battery to be about as good as expected for a device with a 1ghz cpu and super epic led screen.tOki
- I used the GPS with voice directions for several hours straight once though..tOki
- wiked dude!Hombre_Lobo_2

The first nvidia tegra 2 phone - LG star -
http://www.talkandroid.com/23392…
Has about 2-3 times the power of the galaxy S (currently the best gaming phone). Good times!
- Hombre_Lobo_20
Dreamcast emulator for android :D
running pretty bad, but with the tegra 2 phones, hopefully it will run smooth.

This made me laugh, a comment response to LG releasing the new dual core phone -

Steve Jobs just quoted ” OH NO THEY DIDNT ” (snaps fingers)*

LORD O'MERCY!!!!
http://androidandme.com/2011/03/…
-notice how the galaxy S (aka fascinate), with its hummingbird cpu + SGX 540 gpu, is still pretty good compared to the tegra 2 phones. But we'll see tegra 2 optimised games and apps soon, so that will make a big difference.
Dual Core phones set to be released -
LG Optimus 2x
LG Optimus 3D
Motorola Atrix 4G
Samsung Galaxy S IIim excited about these dual core bad boys.
- My contract is up in a couple months, holding out for one of these Dual Core phones.Andrew_D

I'm loving my HTC EVO 4G. Fucking slick device... the google integration is wonderful.
Anyone recommend any decent apps/games for the device? I think i've got most of them but list 'em anyway.
- lukus_W20
I love my Android phone - I was worried I wouldn't use it, but it's incredibly useful. Would be lost without it.
