Wish there was some sort of unreal render engine for C4d.
That demo makes my efforts in C4D look like the equivalent
of Amiga 500 games in comparisons to Playstation 4 games...- Why not.. er.. just use Unreal Engine?Nairn
- I mean, make up all your objects in your usual C4D workflow, then bring them into UE and use its rendering magic?Nairn
- I saw this last week. That is insane. I wouldn't have expected that kind of performance in my lifetime in any 3d environment.CyBrainX
- ^Nairn, cos I'm a noob when it comes to c4d and 3d and just want something as easy to use as After Effects.shapesalad
- Ah, gotcha. Well if you're a noob in C4D, why not become a noob in UE? :)Nairn
- @Nairn, Do you know Unreal Engine? How do you think it compares to Unity? Obviously, this video makes Unreal look great. I've been meaning to get into VR.CyBrainX

^I've been picking up on fusion 360, and oh how it's changing everything regarding modeling. If you're into hard surface this thing is much-much easier to learn than polygonal/sub-d modeling.
the hobbyist version is free, you just need to register:
https://www.autodesk.com/product…- I switched from c4d to blender some years back never looked back. But I find fusions 360 generative design tools very interesting.islandbridge
- The next app I will go into is Houdini. Just hate it so damn expensive to get to work with unity. It’s the king of generative and real-time 3D.islandbridge
- I learned a bit of blender last year, very cool software but I much prefer C4D UIdyspl

Guys going through the titles for Into the Spiderverse. Built in C4D

Yesterday Maxon announced a new version for C4D, exclusive to subscribers (not available for perpetual users), and the update is mediocre to say the least...
But I started to feel a lot suspicious with the changes, which seems to be targeted at people who wants to create Beeple's like artworks..
Ready to use trees/ statues/ 3D models, and easy to apply in your scenes...Then they had a live to announce it, and started mentioning Bepple, and started with the disclaimer "Hey people, there is too much negativity right now, lets focus on the positive, so we are now giving this that we call.. NFTees! For people who are positive in the chat! And guess what, we are now planting trees!!"
I've never felt so compelled to abandon a software so fast like this before...
So yeah, C4D is now an NFT artwork-maker.
- Should I jump into Maya..?
Blender?
Houdini...?Fabricio - I think there was a lot of talk about Beeple because he was presenting at the Maxon conference today. There wasn't much change in the content library aside fromCyBrainX
- it being online which is great since that content library was a 5 GB download in the past. I wouldn't get hung up on NFT hype. Any software can be involved inCyBrainX
- making one. I started playing around with it today. I love the dynamic placement tools and improvements to the interface.CyBrainX
- It is just the mentality behind everything that pisses me off you know? "Keep the positive attitude, and we give you gifts, hey, we are planting trees"Fabricio
- Feels like a pre-emptive PR move with zero actual concern for the environment.Fabricio
- Also, they dont support anymore perpetual licenses 2 months after the release.. so, if you buy today S24, you will get bug fixes for maximum 2 months..Fabricio
- ... nothing else. This is unnaceptable for a 3.500 software.Fabricio
- Should I jump into Maya..?

Octane works really great for me. It’s look great With little effort. From what I understand redshift gives better results if you know what you’re doing.

@ok not ok
Ive been on redshift for 4 years or so. Its very quick, I would say you need to know some basics to set up properly but they also now have auto modes available. I always liked that you buy (now rent) the software and you can use on any platform. So your license means you can install on houdini/c4d/blender etc.The recent updates have been quite buggy I think, I am still running an older version that is very stable. I haven't used octane, Ive used arnold which gave beautiful results but was just too slow. I think its just what you start with and get comfy with, you can get same results on any renderer just different settings and render times. There are lots of technical pros and cons that are determined by what kind of work you would be doing.
- I've been using Redshift for about two years. From what I've heard from users of other GPU renderers is that GPU rendering in general is buggy.CyBrainX
- I've used Arnold a little for Toon Shading. It's better than Sketch and Toon and a lot less glitchy. Arnold has GPU rendering now but I haven't used it becauseCyBrainX
- the Toon Shading isn't supported in GPU. There are a lot of features that Redshift doesn't have but it's still easy to learn if you know Redshift.CyBrainX

If you really want to learn C4D in depth, follow RocketLasso. He used to be part of GreyscaleGorilla but started his own company three years ago. He does livestreams where you ask him any question and he'll do a breakdown of it. Maybe I'm just posting an obvious reference but maybe some people here don't know. Here's his latest livestream.
- Scrolling up, I just noticed I posted one of his videos from a few months ago. I'll get my hat and go...CyBrainX

John Dickinson is also great at modeling.
https://www.johndickinson.net/- We can also expect a new version of C4D in a few weeks.CyBrainX
- Thank you!Wordsworth

- Very nice. I also want to learn Insydium Nexus so I can get nice color blending.CyBrainX
- At 20:40, In my Volume Material, I don't have a drop down option in the Absorption section for Pyro (Default) in the Presets.CyBrainX
- You have to activate Color in the Pyro object properties.imbecile
- ^Thanks. That section in the Object tab of the Pyro (Default) object is easy to miss.CyBrainX

Toon shading in Redshift.
- Here are some random Toonheads I was able to make from these methods. https://i.imgur.com/…CyBrainX
