I was asked by a photographer to design a personal site. I pitched two directions.
He asked for a clean yet delicate website. I tried to keep it simple.
A week later, he wrote back that hated them and said that they had very little character with little and no design at all, like templates. He's going to pay my kill fee.
Maybe I didn't push it enough, but does anyone have examples of clean and delicate portfolio sites?
I'm not sure if I'm going to respond.

Sounds like your client doesn't know what he wants and doesn't understand you can redesign it.

there are millions of clean portfolio sites, we need to see what you came up with for some context

photographers says they want clean site but they want crap moving around, bounce, fade and lots of 45 degree angles with some istock texture background.
- true, clean = lots of crappy flash transitions and perhaps sound for no reason.supersimple

Delicate?
You mean, like, effeminate?

Say the site should not have a character it's his photography that should add a character. If he insists make the background black. There, now you have a character, a very classy one just like his sucky photos.
Also I've seen a lot of designs pushed just by talking, act like a salesman.

The fact that you have a kill fee will prevent me from giving you shit about this post. Well done by adding that clause to your contract.
It was created for moments like these.
