The blue light is on.
There is no vibration or anything...
Any ideas please?

My Lacie 320gb did this. I put in the freezer for 2 hours and it worked again so I could get the files off it.

It worked? Plug it back in whilst its cold!?!?

Yeah just plugged it back in cold. The metal contracts in the cold so the heat expanded parts touch again.. doesn't always work but worked for me.

Similar problem, Lacie 260gb. I too tried the freezer technique but it didn't work for me. If you have a desktop, try removing the drive and mounting/slaving it first before attempting the freezer trick. The drive will eventually be fucked after freezing whether you get to copy your files or not.

Mac or PC?
I have a network lacie drive that failed to mount on my mac for awhile. One of the hidden files within a directory has become corrupt, had to borrow a PC laptop from work, mount it, delete the file then it showed up on the mac again.
If you're lucky that could be the cause. If not, could be the connectors within the HDD enclosure are buggered so you could take it apart and try the HDD in either another enclosure or something like this: http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/Pr…
Failing that, the whole thing is buggered and will need to be replaced. Getting data off it would be very expensive.
Sorry chief.

sorry, but a lacie drive stopping working? they're the drives that break most. get the files and then get something else.

Agreed, in the last 5 years, I had 3 Lacie drives that failed on me one after the other. First I bought two. When the first one failed, I was thinking it's bad luck, bough a similar one to replace it. Eventually, the two other failed the same way shortly after.

I had this problem.
Turned out that the power supply (wrong ampere if I remember) was the problem, after 2 years it stopped working.
Had it changed and it works fine now !hope this help...
