Udemy is offering a deal on an online Unity course. While the course is normally $199, you can get lifetime access for $49 right now. The first several lessons are pretty basic but it seems like they get pretty in depth later on -- and it's a good excuse to learn something like Monodevelop. They'll be adding new content to the course weekly.

We're using it with Oculus. It's nice, though for real terrain mapping you can't plot Lat and Long coordinates to generate altitude against maps. There's some hacks but it's not easy. I like it though.

I've dabbled in it some, and it seems to be put together quite well. I only got as far as moving blocks around and having them collide with each other, but the API (and documentation) is easy to come to grips with.
Seems to include everything you need for building games.

Unity is great for web stuff and small mobile apps but it can't really handle triple A games well because of asset and memory limitations, I would advise Unreal Engine (even for mobile) if you have a serious plans but Unity is sweet for 90% of mobile games

bump because I'm curious to see if anyone else is using it,

BattleAxe, as with any app/game the google play store is a cinch compared to the apple app store.
- submitted an app for an art opening to both the same day, apple store approved the app two weeks late.freakpelican

Just wondering size of team , estimated budgets , freelancer rates etc

I haven't, but the dev on a project I did was built in Unity and some guys in our building use it. They love it.

Yes, I've just used it for the first time, it's a great program. Easy to pick up if you have 3D experience. The project I worked on can be downloaded here: http://www.shef.ac.uk/dcs/comput…
- downloaded it, really nice,
how many hours of dev?
GeorgesII - Cheers! Around 4 weeks dev time. Some of that was figuring out how Unity works though.DanFleetwood
- some really good folks involved in this, gonna check it out.kingsteven
- The view from outside reminds me of something from Snowcrashdetritus

landscaping features are interesting. the random seed for the trees sucks though.

nice, care to show or not yet? did you use the asset store or build everything yourself?
- freakpelican0
