I am a little lost here. It looks like I need to sell my soul to adobe to publish and iPad app developed in indesign?
Maybe I am a little old school but I recall 'stuff' being made in code and things like that. Clearly NOT in an editorial soft, but hey, let's embrace modernity.
Even at the expense of start sounding like and old tart I would ask the qoob what is required to make and distribute an iPad app.
Help?

it was meant to say 'an' iPad app - FML

the statement "developed in indesign" makes me feel queasy

@albums completely agree - however I realise that I am fairly 'oldschool' for being a designer
plus not really interested in become a digital designer... and even least interested in becoming a dev.
@prophetone thanks for sharing!

I think if you pay the subscription for the software you can publish as many as you like for no additional cost.
On a side note, I have a question about publishing to iPads. Can I do direct publishing and bypass the appstore for a limited amount of items? Example, If I publish a newsletter or something that gets updated weekly with content, but only want to publish that to about 300-500 people. Can I just push that to their iPads? Is there a solution for that?
Thanks!
