Vote! Democracy!

We really need to just get a list of willing candidates, have some comps put up, and do the online equivalent of dot voting.

'I am not that sure design and rule by committee is the answer.'
exactly why i was talking of forming an official team that will make the website and talk about their process and technical stuff outside QBN.

'I am not that sure design and rule by committee is the answer.'
I think any of our client experiences with decision-by-committee proves it's just about the worst idea since French nobility decided those giant shavers couldn't possibly be meant for them.
As for rule-by-committee, well ... see 'Lord of the Flies' by William Golding.

I sometimes think Newstoday/QBN worked for this long not because it was a community, but because it had strong private ownership with a demeaning big-brotheresque attitude and a shoot-first talk-never attitude to moderation. People loved when the blue threads appeared, or when baddie accounts disappeared silently. Or when JK got anmesty-happy on one New Year's Eve and started restoring original usernames to people's accounts.
I am not that sure design and rule by committee is the answer.

@set and @befal
yeh im deffo in.
I'd be more than happy to build the static front end all responsive. As aliastime said we could use flexbox and sack off old browser support (flexbox doesnt support IE 9 or lower). We could use a framework, but I personally like to build from scratch for leanness sake. We could get some Sass up in there too.
Then once done we could pass it on to some back end pro to make it all database driven and dynamic. Do we have 'php ninjas' who would be interested in doing the back end?
Exciting times
- although i have a big freelance job which might start sometime this month, but i could get cracking on this nowHombre_Lobo
- depends on when the client decides to go *shakes fist*. No harm in getting a start done thoughHombre_Lobo
- as long as its well documented whats been done. i'll use https://asana.com/ to show all progressHombre_Lobo

We need a structure and a selected team before anything. For the moment we're a large bunch of people in a room and everyone speaking one over another with no leader.
Once that team is formed, they should create a private Facebook page (or anything else for that matter) where they will be able to talk about the project, share info and stuff to build the website.
They will chim in here when they want to share stuff, if everything is talked and share in here, it's going to be a total mess, everyone will have their opinion, people will put memes in the thread etc.

- I'm beginning to think you lot are simply enjoying the 'planning' process, rather than the outcome.Continuity

Anyway, back on track — I just wanted to respond to Set's grossly inaccurate interpretation of events ^up there.
.
What's needed for a responsive site here is a couple of decent back end coders and DB-whizzes, and a decent hosting plan, over a load of front-end developers and designers.
- detritus0
And, by the way set - there are only about 4 NTCers who keep a foot in both sites these days. The 'bitching about QBN' you often go on about is barely existant now and, when it does crop up, is simply an extension of the dialogue that goes on here — more of a "Can you believe what this guy just said?!".
NTC is, after all, simply a place where a load of old school QBNers went to, for various individual reasons, to banter and share work, etc, away from Google's never-forgetting Sauron-like glare, not to be 'secretive' and elitest or 'self-righteous' as you like to frame it.
Anyway, you forget:
- *checks where his feet are, strokes two-day stubbleContinuity
- haha, actually, counting up, there's probably a good dozen with feet in both camps :)detritus

Set you left on your own. No one banned you.
- True, but the door was closed after we found out what he'd done to 'said someone'.detritus
- One thing is pointless internet biting and scratching, another thing entirely is doing dickish things to people IRL, offline.detritus

Set - Fuckit seeing as you dredged it up - I'd wanted to move on, but you're so utterly, utterly oblivious to your actions, here we go:
'Someone' on NTC, (a once beloved QBN member) was going through a bad time. 'Said someone' had, for a while, mooted the idea of doing a responsive version of the site. 'Said someone' needed a bit of a hand in life, but wouldn't accept any charity.
Some other NTCer thought of the bright idea of donating a wee bit of cash ostensibly 'for the responsive site' but actually just so they could help pay said someone's rent.
Quite a few other NTCers did the same, meaning 'said someone' could pay their rent. Everyone knew it was for this, yourself included.
Only one person, many months later asked 'said someone' for their money back. 'Said someone's life then took a further spiral and .. well, I won't go into that, but at that point you were ejected from NTC - mostly because of your often-poisonous behaviour, particularly asking for your 'donated money' back from 'said someone'.
.
You're either blinkered to impact of your behaviour or just a really fundamentally broken piece of work, set.
Donating money to people when they're down on their luck shouldn't come with strings.. and then really shouldn't come with the requirement of a refund, set - quite how you don't see that, I don't know.
You'll be non-plussed to know that 'said someone' is, finally, doing better in life - on their feet, no thanks to you.
And we still don't have a responsive NTC site - that wasn't then, nor ever in future, the point.
You fucking dolt.
- I didn't want to dredge this here a) for your reputation and, more importantly b) 'Said someone's privacy.detritus
- WhiteFace0
Give it a few more weeks and I can help out, CSS, HTML, Front -end shennanigans
- set0
Did I ever mention that I put in £50 towards a responsive build of NTC and then they banned me without even a whisper of a refund... ?
One thing I definitely don't want this project to become is a wanky self righteous secret forum that bitches about here...
