Setting up your PSD for web

It's been awhile since I've designed anything for the web. I'd like to hear how others go about setting up their files and grids in photoshop (let's assume it's "1170px X N" wide to start), do you :
A: Set your file up to be "2340px X N" and scale and save off images twice (if the file size is too large).
B: Set your file to "1170px X N" at 144ppi to simulate 2340px but still have the convenience of using measurements you're used to seeing (i.e. I can set type to 16px and it's not tiny when zoomed out to 50%). When images are ready to you would switch the size back to 2340px.
C: Don't worry about Retina Displays, a little blur won't kill em'

C: Desktop retina screens are such a minuscule percentage they are not worth the bother

@uan: I'm curious why go with 'A' over 'B' when setting type and figuring out the baseline etc... won't you need to double text size and leading? Wouldn't it be easier to just work at the text size you will code later and when it's time to save your files just switch the file size to 2340px at 72ppi for saving images?

maybe B is easier, I'm just used to A. that's why.
I usually design it at '1170px x N' at 72ppi to show layouts and arrange things...then I blow up x2 for image production. most of it is layer shapes yet, so no worries...the rest needs to be redone.for the text I don't care, as it is in the browser yet.

I'm going to go with 'B' but, treat it like 'C'. That way if any complains about retina I know I have the assets available.
Thanks for the help.

It doesn't matter what size your text is or what the dimensions of the site are if you're using em's as the unit when developing. Even in a fixed width site this is the way to go.

@jtb26: I understand that using relative units is how I will end up, but I always design initially for the ideal size and keep other sizes in mind.
Seeing my body copy at 16px rather than 30.44px (or whatever it ends up) while working helps keep all those little OCD tendencies at bay.
