"You don't talk about the spherical earth with NASA and then say let's give equal time to the flat-earthers," said Tyson.
- Sure. Sunday morning, can we have equal discussion of evolution, then?ETM

i caught a rerun of the first episode late last sunday night. really good. and i enjoy tyson. been listening to interviews with him on youtube as well. he called sagan a "great science communicator", or something like that. true. as is tyson. will catch up with what i missed over the weekend.
- oh, and what moldy said ^, but the way they present it, you can't argue with it...sine

watching this show is like a warm blanket. very nostalgic. like an old Spielberg movie.

2nd episode wasn't even a little subtle about talking directly to creationists. It dedicated an entire section on the evolution of the complex human eye—often used by creationists as an argument that god exists—and along the way pointed out that evolution happens not to an individual animal, but to the group over time. And in no uncertain terms countered several of the major creationists arguments, one by one. It was like, let's just get this bullshit out of the way so we can continue. I love it.
- But what about consciousness? You can't explain dat.ORAZAL
- I can, and I have, and the scientific evidence backing it up would fill a room.monospaced
- i thought using the phrase "Greatest Story (science) Ever Told" was pretty deliberate toolocustsloth
- I felt that was a way of saying that REALITY was more awe-inspiring than man-made myths.monospaced

Great so far - despite having seen so much of the content before - still managed to capture the wonder of the original series. And I like the presenter - nice bloke.

im glad this show is back with updated information, thins are moving so fast now that a science documentary from 2005 is probabbly wrong with the new discoveries.
i saw some people on the internet complaining about the amount of visual effects and the shallowness of the science facts.
but this is a prime time show, it need great visuals to support the ideas, or else the audience get lost, and I think they nailed it.i'm waiting next sunday for ep03!

Carl Sagan accomplished so much and died young at 62.
