Dr Brian Cox is always fun to watch.Continuity - Yes, he has shows, and that's why he's ideal for Cosmos, among other reasons I listed alreadymonospaced
- It's his enthusiasm that makes him so good, very similar to Sagan's except more boyish.Continuity
- Yea but he pronounces 'saturn' like a compete bellendset

Ep 3 was a bit of a dud compared to the others.

Seems like a bunch of regurgitated shit, that I have seen decades ago.
- Centuries ago even... which is sad. People shouldn't need reminding, but they do.monospaced
- The bit about knowing the names of infamous serial killers but not scientific pioneers struck a chord with me. Until that is reversed, we need the this stuff hammered into our culture.dorkKn1ght
- you can say the same thing about athletes or movie stars._niko
- Everyone knows Kim K, but people don't even know who Joe Biden is.omahadesigns

hmm. never saw the original series, but I know the comiconerds have been pushing for the revival, so I'm interested to see what it's all about.

the main thing i'm worried about is how fox is going to use this as a chance to rewrite the universe (or at least our perception of it).
for instance, in one of the first original episodes (and the book) sagan addresses religion for what it is, not as truth. how is fox going to handle this? the same fox run by christian rupert murdoch, who helped fund GW bush's election campaign to the tune of some 3 million dollars and regularly airs biased bullshit and propaganda on fox news?
i feel like the project could be really great, but it's in the wrong hands entirely
- they even defended the history channel using an obama lookalike to portray the devil in their bible miniseriesscarabin

- i never bought into that obama look alike shit. that guy has acted for the history channel beforealbums
- tbf, Fx is the same channel that promoted the Simpsons and Family guy, both of which have been fairly scathing of the fox demographicdetritus
- demographic, and the things it values.detritus
- They also aired 24 and gave us a black president before Obamamonospaced

@scarabin, those same things concerned me, but I have "faith" that Neil wouldn't commit to this if he thought FOX would puppet him into saying something he doesn't agree with. He has a history of speaking his mind on the heavy religion/science topics and he's on a roll. I doubt he's going to budge for FOX.

I thought it was pretty bad. The first 20 minutes they're just flying through space haphazardly. Theres no real real narrative. The art direction was all over the place. The CG looked good in some places but lousy in others. I like Neil, but he wasn't engaging in this.
They should have got the Planet Earth people to direct.

Doesn't explain consciousness, therefore it's all bullshit. ;)

fell asleep and went to another place in the universe

yeah, tyson is the only element that's giving me hope for this series. i'm even okay with it being an overblown scifi wankfest, as long as he's on board.

WIth 13 episodes I'm sure the bulk of the series will be more in-depth and less broad as the premiere. Loved the original and where they are taking the new version as well.
