I've got a nice open space, two stories high with space for a nice hanging lighting piece. Looking for inspiration for a DIY.
ideas?

A picture speaks a thousand words. I think we'd need more info for some real input... We need to know room style, color, scale, purpose. Lighting over a conversation area, over a table? Is it a living room or a foyer? Functional only, or design/statement making?

maybe a picture of your room? So we get inspiration for your inspiration.

so here's a photo of the spot, it's a living room, over a dining table, the top level is a patio - those doors open up and ideally lighting would look nice hanging right in-front of it. You can see the vacant outlet spot where I can hang it from; top middle. Also to consider, when everything is open it gets quite windy, so can't go with anything too loose/swingy.

- I hate to tell you, but your contractor put the floor on the ceiling :) I kid, looks nice!ETM
- Based on the space, and not competing with the ceiling, I go large, open and airy with the fixture.ETM
- Keeps the tone of the space without obstructing or competing.ETM
