Trying to send a 'blue text' from my phone.
In the old days this was considered a free text between iPhones.
Now known as iMessage, you can obviously send 'messages' from your computer to peoples phone numbers...
All of a sudden, certain people I cannot 'blue text' it says 'not set up for iMessage.
We are both clearly on iPhones texting number to number so to speak...
Anyone else got this problem?

My girl has been having major iMessage problems. Seems like apple have a bit of a problem with it all from what she's read

Check;
Settings >> Messages >> iMessage (on/off)I had an issue where it would randomly turn off. Hasn't happened in a while, though.

Sometime they have to verify their account (or maybe you do). It takes a quick call to apple support. Happened to me after I logged into my apple account on too many different devices at once. Locked me out.

I suspect that friends of mine who have iPhones are having issues with that. I get messages from most of my Apple friends though.

I have problems, too. Mostly with group messages, one person's replies come through on a different thread. I think it all goes back to when they switched iMessage to work with Apple ID. So for a while, people would have two iMessage accounts, one with their old phone number and one with their Apple ID. New iPhone buyers would only have Apple ID. I think Apple is trying to merge people's phone number contact with Apple ID.
Two days ago I had a long group chat with three people. The next day I turned off my phone for some reason (which I almost never do.) When I turned it back on, I received a bunch of new iMessages from that group chat. I had missed about a third of the conversation, and didn't even notice.

i had a similar issue where imessage all of a sudden stopped working and it always failed to connect to servers to set up imessage using my itunes account.
what got it working again was doing a reset of my phone's settings and updating to the latest ios (i forget which step in particular solved it but it's working again).

Today, iMessages from my computer are not being sent. Only from my iPhone. And the computer isn't giving me an error message. So I was waiting to hear back from people for a few hours, until I noticed it.
Apple: it just works!
