http://www.theguardian.com/film/… Sony pulls the plug on the Dec. 25th release of the movie.
Thor Halvorssen, the founder of Human Rights Foundation and one of Park’s supporters, is furious. “What precedent are we setting?” he said. “If you are going to start following their demands then you might as well give up the idea of a free society. You have terrorist organisations that constantly threaten us,” he said. “Does that mean we should cease living in a free society because some people don’t like the way we live? No.”

i would say we probably are going to war though, based solely on the fact that the US government is now apparently focusing on anti-korean propaganda.

"We didn't go to war with North Korea when they murdered American soldiers in the 1970s with axes. We didn't go to war with North Korea when they fired missiles over our allies. We didn't go to war with North Korea when one of their ships torpedoed an alliance partner and killed some of their sailors. You're going to tell me we're now going to go to war because a Sony exec described Angelina Jolie as a diva? It's not happening. "

Watching CNN today they're literally calling this a cyber attack against America. Maybe the laws they'll draft to protect us from such a horrific attack could be called Save Ourselves from Pyongyang Attacks...

Reaction to the Sony Hack Is 'Beyond the Realm of Stupid'

I wonder what the going rate is for the US Government to investigate the hacking of a multinational corporation. Glad my tax dollars are hard at work defending the intellectual property of Sony Inc. who's been consistently hacked for the past few years now. And now it's almost a national emergency!! We're doomed...
- they actually don't have too, they have a little org called the nsageorgesIII
- What's Japan's take on this? Is Sony Pctures purely a US company?monospaced

They are just calculating what the risk is. I can't blame them, you have a super successful, history setting hack that is estimated $200million loss, probably far more long term.
They are also probably figuring it'll get massive viewership via Netflix and others. I thought it looked horribly stupid (NK should have let it go, as it probably makes Sony looked more stupid that KJ), but will watch just because of this debacle.
Worse is that NK has now proven that strategic hacks are very possible and can cripple a company. Can you imagine if a hack like this happened at Goldman Sachs? That could bring Wall Street to a halt and our country to its knees.
Scary stuff and what I worry about far more than ISIS or Putin.
- if that happens to Golden Sacks we'd never here about it - they're rather blow up their head office than get cau... hey, waitGnash

As much as I'd like to think it was a "genius" marketing gimmick, I have to stop and think about how un-funny it is to make serious threats like that on behalf of a country like N. Korea. This country doesn't take those kinds of things lightly, and if it does turn out it's a hoax by someone in the US, I bet they're in some serious fucking trouble. I do not think for a second the government would let the movie studio slide on this kind of stunt.
- no way sony hoaxed terabytes of content to the torrents. but that may not be related.Gnash

"We are an international organization including famous figures in the politics and society from several nations such as United States, United Kingdom and France. We are not under direction of any state.
"Our aim is not at the film The Interview as Sony Pictures suggests. But it is widely reported as if our activity is related to The Interview. This shows how dangerous film The Interview is. The Interview is very dangerous enough to cause a massive hack attack. Sony Pictures produced the film harming the regional peace and security and violating human rights for money.
"The news with The Interview fully acquaints us with the crimes of Sony Pictures. Like this, their activity is contrary to our philosophy. We struggle to fight against such greed of Sony Pictures."
- so no spiderman 6 reboot?georgesIII

It's out, it was north korea,
they were hiding behind 5 proxy and a cow,
but we got themmmm!!!comon people, north korea is so poor that they have to menace their neighboors just to get some food aid, I'm not saying their tech is antiquated, but the time NK will be able to attack the mainland is still really really far..
now hacking has gotten simpler but I doubt the NKs have the expertise to break into an allegedly well protected corporation like sony and still 100tb of stuff, what are the benefits to them, I doubt NK cares about a goddam hollywood movie, when they have a regime to keep afloat, why everyone think they care is beyond me, http://www.wired.com/2014/12/evi…
remember team america?
anyways these are the treats the cinema received, it's crazy that an entire country folds under some pretty week treats
"“Remember the 11th of September,” the group wrote in a note accompanying its latest release of hacked documents. “We will clearly show it to you at the very time and places ‘The Interview’ be shown....We recommend you to keep yourself distant from the places at that time. (If your house is nearby, you’d better leave.)”"
